Episode 151: the relaxation episode
Subscribe to On The Ledge via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Player FM, Stitcher, Overcast, RadioPublic and YouTube.
This week’s show is a bit different: it’s all aimed at smoothing away the stresses of your day, via a reading of extracts of a classic houseplant text: The Indoor Gardener by Miss EA Maling, published in 1863.
I hope you’ll find it relaxing, and you may learn a thing or two as well! I haven’t been able to find out much about Miss Maling, but I am going to see if the RHS Lindley Library can shed any light on who she was.
You can find the original text here: the frontispiece image referred to is reproduced here (click on the image to enlarge it).
If you are a Patreon subscriber, you can listen to An Extra Leaf 52, an accompaniment to this episode where I talk about some of the ways I like to relax - planty and otherwise!
